Campgrounds move and store tools, mowers, carts, rental equipment, electronics, signs, event gear, and property belonging to others. Inland marine is a way to review movable, specialized, or in-transit property; it is not a universal label that overrides property, auto, transit, custody, or water exclusions. A scheduled item is specifically listed; a blanket limit applies to a defined class, subject to the form.
Build a custody map
Record what is owned, leased, borrowed, rented, transported, or held for a guest; where it is kept; who controls it; and how its value is supported. Include serial numbers, maintenance, seasonal storage, security, trailers, job sites, and event locations. Note whether a vendor, carrier, tenant, or customer retains the risk under a contract.
Separate custody from physical damage
Ask whether the form is scheduled or blanket, covers transit and temporary locations, addresses pairs and sets, and uses replacement cost or actual cash value. Review exclusions for wear, mechanical breakdown, unattended vehicles, flood, theft, watercraft, and property in the campground’s care or control for someone else. Coordinate with equipment breakdown, crime, commercial auto, and event terms rather than duplicating limits.
Keep invoices, valuations, leases, photographs, and custody agreements. Bring the custody map to an inland-marine coverage review and quote request through The Southern Agency’s existing quote portal. The form, endorsements, conditions, limits, deductible, and facts determine a loss response.
